چکیده

Remote sensing (RS) has been widely adopted as a tool to investigate several biotic and abiotic factors, directly indirectly, related biodiversity conservation. European grasslands are one of the most biodiverse habitats in Europe. Most these subject priority conservation measure, human-induced processes threaten them. The broad expansions few dominant species usually reported drivers loss. In this context, using Sentinel-2 (S2) images, we distribution spreading Central Apennine: Brachypodium genuense. We performed binary Random Forest (RF) classification B. genuense RS images field-sampled presence/absence data. Then, integrate occurrences obtained from into models identify topographic study area. Lastly, impact Natura 2000 (N2k) (Annex I Habitat Directive) was assessed by overlay analysis. RF process detected cover with an overall accuracy 94.79%. model shows that relevant variables influence slope, elevation, solar radiation, wet index (TWI) order importance. analysis 74.04% identified area falls on semi-natural dry grasslands. highlights model’s importance integrated workflow for mapping broad-expansion such coupled techniques presented work should apply other plant communities remotely recognizable characteristics more effective management N2k habitats.

Species distribution modelling of invasive alien species; Pterois miles for current distribution and future suitable habitats

The present study aims to predict the potential geographic distribution and future expansion of invasive alien lionfish (Pterois miles) with ecological niche modelling along the Mediterranean Sea. The primary data consisted of occurrence points of P. miles in the Mediterranean and marine climatic data layers were collected from global databases. All the used models run 100% su...

From space to species: ecological applications for remote sensing

A variety of ecological applications require data from broad spatial extents that cannot be collected using field-based methods. Remote sensing data and techniques address these needs, which include identifying and detailing the biophysical characteristics of species’ habitats, predicting the distribution of species and spatial variability in species richness, and detecting natural and human-ca...

SPECIES OF MELILOTUS IN IRAN (KEY TO THE SPECIES, DESCRIPTIONS AND THEIR DISTRIBUTIONS)

The genus Melilotus contains altogether some 20 species (WIERSEMA et al. 1990) in the world which mostly distributed in Europe, Central and SW. Asia and N. Africa (HUCHINSON 1964). BOISSIER (1872) listed 13 species of Melilotus in which 6 of them are found in the Iranian flora. PARSA (1948) following Boissier’s work referring some new collections made by other workers, listed the same species n...
